Worst Floor Prep Ever?

18 months ago, fairly new acquaintance of mine had builder/plumber fit £8k bathroom. He got 'pro tiler' in to do floor, £120sqm Gulf Stone. Within a week tiles were lifting, client agreed to hold £500 back. Several months later he got quoted £1200 to fix it. He told me this not long after I met him and I said it shouldn't be that much, I would take a look. When I went round, I could lift a couple of tiles with a knife, turned out he'd used 6mm hardboard on existing floorboards, dot'n'dabbed some addy here and there, no Silicon only grout. I took them all up, recovered them and relaid on proper foundation.
Later I had to repair their shower, builder/plumber had left 18mm grout 'line' down to shower tray, so water poured into garage (lucky, could have been lounge) below. £8k bathroom, prob £4-5k labour, joke......
ps last 2 pics are after...........

I know Dave but tbh, I could only use the tiles that were there already so as there was the curved cubicle there, I was limited as to how much I could move things around....

Unbelievable, but double so when you know how much they paid for the whole job.. The walls are rubbish as well, I almost feel like bringing them to my house or a clients to show them the difference, if I didn't think they'd be sick at how much they've paid for such a c--p job.

more of the same problems people are having lately !
at least you tidied the floor a bit:thumbsup:

just lost a job to a builder, was well undercut, he's not a tiler or a plumber, oh well!

Got look at one monday, if I can get there, women has had a bathroom tiled and has had the tiler back twice because it leaks when she has a shower.

Camera at the ready:thumbsup:
