18 months ago, fairly new acquaintance of mine had builder/plumber fit £8k bathroom. He got 'pro tiler' in to do floor, £120sqm Gulf Stone. Within a week tiles were lifting, client agreed to hold £500 back. Several months later he got quoted £1200 to fix it. He told me this not long after I met him and I said it shouldn't be that much, I would take a look. When I went round, I could lift a couple of tiles with a knife, turned out he'd used 6mm hardboard on existing floorboards, dot'n'dabbed some addy here and there, no Silicon only grout. I took them all up, recovered them and relaid on proper foundation.
Later I had to repair their shower, builder/plumber had left 18mm grout 'line' down to shower tray, so water poured into garage (lucky, could have been lounge) below. £8k bathroom, prob £4-5k labour, joke......
