White Room

Just been asked by a customer to sort out the silicon between the tiles and shower tray. I was originally asked to tile the shower cubicle but apparently she couldn't afford me. What she really meant was she couldn't afford for me not to do it!!!

The gap varied as you can see between £2 and £3.20. (Which is what the should have been paid) The photo of the edge is where all the grout/addy mix combo :mad2:was just left where it met the other tiles on the stud wall. The photo of the ceiling is where the gap is filled with grout/addy, that measured 14mm between top of tile and ceiling. AAArrggghhh

See what you mean by £3.20....holy moses:yikes:

to paraphrase Harry Redknap "my old lady could do better than that". I've got a re-grout request to do but have told the client they'd be better off re-tiling as its all so poor in the first place and has been so badly over-grouted and grout painted already anything I do will probably look pretty poor no matter what I do. Pause. "My husband did all of that and thought he did a decent job....." oops

i'd say £2.00 is about 6mm and £3.20 about 10mm just a guess would measure them but looking out the window my van looks way too far to walk to get my tape.

The coins were in my pocket and the tape was in the van

Just started a bathroom refurb and the customer was telling me he had his en suite done less than a year ago he's not happy with it and wants me to do it again at a later date. I thought i would share a few pics with you all, some of the pics are taken from the bathroom I've just started today you can see the backs of the tiles through the wall :mad2: the floor has already failed looks like the "professional" tiler tiled straight onto cheap chipboard. 070520121182.jpg 070520121183.jpg 070520121184.jpg 070520121185.jpg 070520121186.jpg 070520121189.jpg 070520121190.jpg 070520121191.jpg 070520121192.jpg

just thought that you would all like to see what a customer payed 7k for last year including tiles and suite(all from b & q) room was a bedroom which was ripped out completely and reboarded.....and to make matters worse when doing the tap test i would say that over 70% of the tiles have been dotted onto new walls.
the photos numbers 6 and 8 actually show where the bath is and the tiler has used grout instead of Silicon......actually no Silicon has been used at at all. and before you ask yes she did pay him as at the end of the job the tiler became very rude and quite aggresive stating that there is nothing wrong with the work and she was just being extremely picky so as to find reasons not to pay. shev 001.jpg shev 002.jpg shev 003.jpg shev 004.jpg shev 005.jpg shev 006.jpg shev 007.jpg shev 008.jpg shev 009.jpg

Looks fine to me .......... :mad2: :incazzato:

Yet there are so many people out there who will pay for this and throw away our quotes because we are too expensive........ well, it is only tiling after all. Anybody can throw some muck and tiles onto a wall cant they (I have actually been told that line before!!!!)......

MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL :prrr:

Why would you pay for substandard work it baffles me, if I'd finished a job and it looked like any in this thread i wouldn't want paying and i would have a long hard think about how competent i am as a tradesman. I always think if i wouldn't pay for it in my own home why would i expect anybody els to.

I'v been to one this week in a big house that's 4 yrs old. 3 out of 4 bathrooms have cracked floors or walls. hallway and kitchen must be 60msq, starting to crack.

The owner said this is the best house out of the 3 that were built on this plot, could have some good work coming up. It does make you wonder though.
