Hello,
Some days ago our conservatory floor has been tiled and skirting board has been affixed by a handyman (paid after completion), and now there are already cracks between the tiles (see 4 photos below, normally all the other joints "only" have little hair-line cracks).
Here a list of all...

...your are best using hardiebacker board in place of plaster board to build the whole walls, however you could also use moistureresistantplasterboard. Make sure you prime with SBR or another primer beforehand (but not PVA!)
Back to brick....I would get a plasterer to put a scratch coat on...
Swimming pools are rarely tanked. They also rarely fail. The failures you see in showers tend to be a result of what the tiles are stuck to not the fact that the grout allows the passage of moisture. Plywood, plasterboard, mdf etc etc... I also still maintain that whilst grout is not resistant...
If u are going to use plasterboard, it's better if you can use moistureresistant and not skim.
Typically a skimmed surface has weight limits of approx 20Kg m2, whereas plasterboard without a skim has a limit of approximate 32Kg m2.
Primer is really adhesive dependant, each manufacturer produces...
so your going to install some moisture resistance board then tank it out .the board is a mear 6mm thick wouldnt you better off in my opinion plaster boarding with 12 mm plasterboard and tank that out your going to get the same result or are you the plaster board is twice as thick so should be...
Likewise......went to see a job today a full bathroom, floor to ceiling job. The plasterer had applied undercoat plaster to all 4 walls over the moistureresistantplasterboard and told her it was fine to tile on.:mad2:
...it makes it easier anyway to do this. When and if you are going to put plasterboard back up, at least use the green moistureresistantplasterboard, tape the corners and use a suitable adhesive. Most importantly in my opinion use a good quality "flexible" grout to limit any hairline cracks...
Hi,
We have brought 600 x 400 x 12 travertine for wall and floor in a small bathroom. The plasterwork was old and as I am aware plaster cannot take the weight of travertine will all be removed and 12.5mm plasterboard / moistureresistant gyproc used to line the walls. However, the tiles are...

Grateful for some advice on whether I'll be okay putting 13mm Marble onto moistureresistantplasterboard.
I think the weight limit for unskimmed plasterboard is 32kg? But I don't know how much a m2 of Marble + adhesive weights.
Good evening all,
This is possibly a simple question and I'm hoping that it is a simple 'ish job with the right advice.
I am having an electric shower fittied in my bathroom and as a result am going to need to increase the tiling around the bath so that it can be used as a shower too...
...I'm new to the forum and would like some advice please. My bathroom has been dob and dab plaster boarded with 12.5mm moistureresistantplasterboard and SKIMMED. I have now sourced the tiles that I like which are 900w x 300h x 8.7mm thick ceramic, weighing with tile adhesive and grout about...
Hi, just joined, hello everyone!
I would like some advice if possible please.
I am a bathroom fitter and have a travertine job to do. The walls are 12.5mm unskimmed plasterboard screwed to 400mm centres timber with 1 noggin half way up the wall. Moistureresistant board is in the shower area...
...They recommend tape and adhesive across the joints but they say it doesn't need to be tanked.
Any thoughts or experience with it or would I be better off using normal moistureresistantplasterboard and tanking it?
If it's best to tank than any particular recommendations for a tanking method?
