    CAD Software, anybody got recommendations?

I have Articad but you can just have the bathroom version which is far cheaper than the Pro version. It's simple enough to use but initial cost does put you off....that said, it will soon pay for itself. If you have the software you can compete more with the showrooms on jobs.

Really nice job. Nice to do something other than just tiling too.

    Tiling a bath panel ???

If you have a B&Q warehouse near you, look for Q-board which is normally in the plastering and coving section. The panels are designed for baths with adjustable feet. They're also cheaper and easier to work with.

    festool diamond plunge cutter

I think it's a good product. My gripe with it was that I thought it would be a GREAT product with the Festool name on it. I wouldn't get rid of it as it's my go-to cutter when I am working with Marble or large format tiles and I don't want to be going outside for every cut. As I've said...

    festool diamond plunge cutter

It's OK but not as good as I was hoping it would be. Don't bother with the stock blade. I've had best results with the Accumax blade. I mainly use it for jobs where I want to do all cuts inside. Dust extraction is fairly good - I'd say 90% of the dust is extracted. One thing I would...

Advice required about Hole repair kits for porcelain

I've used the Picobello kit and provided you take your time, you'll repair that easily enough. The secret is to use darker colours as your base. You can then add minimal amounts of lighter colours to get the blend right. You will never get a perfect result but I'd say unless someone is...

Painted concrete on floor to be tiled with UFH

A concrete grinding disc along with a grinder shroud connected to a hoover will make short work of that. Yes, there will be a bit of dust but the hoover should catch at least 90% of it.

    Help with Stacking tiles

I think that the result you have achieved with the tiles you were given is fairly good. The main thing you need to improve on is what's going on behind the tile and your fixing technique. Given that you say you're slow, it clearly matters to you that you do a nice job so I'm sure that any...

Help me find a 25mm door bar / threshold

If the threshold doesn't work you can always use a shim under the carpet. The shim creates a ramp and allows you to use any threshold. I usually make my own shims from a8mm mdf using a planer - it takes about 10-15 mins.

Levelling clips are a load of tosh? Really?

I've been using them for ages. I add the cost of them to the job but have never discussed it with a customer.... It's not an option as far as I'm concerned. Virtually every customer I've had has been really impressed by the clips. I am also absolutely sure that they do speed up workflow and...

    Porcelain tile chip repair...

It's a set that I found on amazon. I think it's German. You get a hot spatula powered by batteries along with a selection of different coloured resins. You start with lighter colours as a base then add dark colour until it matches the tiles. There is a video on Youtube I believe. I've used it...

    Porcelain tile chip repair...

I've used the Picobello ket (found on Amazon) and it's well worth having in your toolbox. Costs a bit upfront but it's one of those things you'll be glad that you have

    Multi tool blades.........

The new fein multimasters use starlock plus (without a pin but quick change blades). The problem with them is that they also own the patent for the blade starlock plus connector design which means that you can only get blades from them at fein prices. I think shark have made a version of the...

    Festool Dsc-ag125 Tile Cutter

I think the filter will last for years if you take care of it. You'll see the dust build up on it very quickly at which point I run the hoover nozzle over it. Every now and then I'll remove the filter altogether and hoover the back of it too. I've had my filter for 2 years and it looks the...

    Festool Dsc-ag125 Tile Cutter

The filtered air goes straight out of the back of the unit Marc via two 45 degree vents. It doesn't need to go outside of the room as the filter media will have collected all of the dust. It has a G4 filter so this is 90% efficient at collecting anything 5 microns and above. At 1 micron it's...

    Designing bathrooms for customers

I do the same as Plan Tec apart from the mood boards. I bought bathcad design software although I'm thinking about doing all design work in sketchup and using a better third party rendering solution. I've found that I no longer compete with bathroom Fitters. My main competition is the...
