    Dispute - Opinions please

Unfortunately, these thin cuts were done with the offcuts that were left, as only the exact amount of tiles were ordered. The bits that were used for the thin cuts were the best on offer from all the offcuts. Not ideal, but not many options.

    Dispute - Opinions please

If I had started with a full tile from the tray on the floor, while matching all wall and floor gaps, then it would not have been possible to cover the exposed edge of the tiles on the boxing with the shower wall tile. This is where the compromise has been made.

    Dispute - Opinions please

Hi all, Sorry if this is a bit of an essay, but I’d be interested to hear anyone’s opinion. I recently finished a job tiling a shower room in a studio apartment using Calcatta Verde Marble 20mm thick. I spent the best part of a morning with the client laying out all the slabs on the floor...

    Floor tile removal

Never had a floor that a decent SDS drill with a good chisel on it won't take up. Hammer and bolster to do tricker bits that are harder to reach.

    Encaustic Tile Problem

Thanks for reply, all very fair points. Yes, not sure about the mysterious first tiler. I think a test removing some tiles is in order, and if they come up easily / with little damage, then I'll go for a full removal. Does anyone else have an opinion of using encaustics in a high traffic...

    Encaustic Tile Problem

Thanks guys. Just looked into the Eco Prim Grip, and it looks like that could be an option. Dave, can I ask why you're not condoning tiling over? Would you take up the tiles bearing in mind the risk to the UFH, and the mess to the house, instead?

    Encaustic Tile Problem

That's an interesting point. My other worry is that they have water UFH, and when I spoke to the builder yesterday, he said the pipes were only 20mm under the surface of the screed! So i'm slightly concerned at ripping up the floor and taking chunks out of the screed in the process, if the tiles...

    Encaustic Tile Problem

Thanks John, I feared it may be unrepairable, just wanted to hear it from some other people too. Anyone else have an opinion??

    Encaustic Tile Problem

Hi All, I'm looking for some advice please. I went and saw a potential customer last night who has a Fired Earth encaustic floor laid in her hallway (Grau - Encaustic - Wall & Floor Tiles | Fired Earth). Approx 8 sq metres. The floor has been down about 2 years (not my work) and in my opinion...

putting a strip of 4mm glass mosaic between 6mm tiles

I had a problem like this last week, needed to pack out about 6mm for the mosaic strip to sit flush with the rest of the tiles. I got a sheet of 4mm Wedi, cut it into long strips 50mm wide (the width of the mosaic strip), then stuck them to the wall, then the mosaic on top. Finished perfectly flush.

    Grout Cleaner

Just looked at a job in a bathroom showroom, the floor is pretty old and needs some replacement tiles. They want to get another year out of the floor as it is a fairly large area. The grout looks like it was Beige and I am wondering if there is any good grout cleaner that could brighten it up...

I use Dickies trousers with knee pad insert pockets on the front. No pinching of the back of the legs to worry about, and never have to take them off/put them on. Also the trousers are really tough and last ages. Got mine on eBay - 2 pairs of trousers with pads included - £25!!

    Hi Everyone

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but not a new tiler. Just moved to a new area (NW London), and am in the process of trying to establish and build new contacts. Found some really interesting reading on here, and hope to be able to contribute in the future. If anyone needs an...
