Price for entire bathroom. Is it a reasonable price?

Sorry for delay to answer, was away for a few days. Apologies, didnt know the rule about pricing threads. Thanks for comments so far. No its not a problem, and yes this is for labour only ie not including materials, but no mark up made on materials, they were supplied. Still learning to price...

Price for entire bathroom. Is it a reasonable price?

Hi, i recently completely re-did an upstairs bathroom. Total I charged for all work was around £3800. Checking in to see if you think this is a reasonable price. Job included: -complete gutting of old bathroom, removal of bath, sink, toilet, and about 6msq of old wall tiles and overboarding...

Hardiebacker onto terracotta hollow tile wall

A query about your comment..... the thought i have, is if normal plaster finish walls can only hold about 20kg psm, how can a dot and dabbed only boards hold more? For arguments sake, say the dot dabs made contact with 20% of the area of the boards, that implies that the dot/dab adhesive is over...

    Tile edging finishes

Yes weight limit is close, tiles just over 18kg/msq and mapei say coverage of adhesive is about 2.5kg/msq. They dont say what trowel thats with though. Is there a rule of thumb for adhesive weight?

    Tile edging finishes

Ah thats a good idea Adey, the marble. Was thinking to overhang tile to make a slight lip on window sill if needed, but was a bit uneasy about that look, not to mention danger of tile edge breaking in time. Not keen on the wood idea, because of the water element. And Boggs, Wall opposite...

    Tile edging finishes

Wall tiles are calacatta porcelains, that you can see in bottom right corner of top image. And ya, being mindful of cables. Client wanted bath in asap, as living in the house. So did enough floor to set bath. Now gotta get loo and sink in, before continuing tiling.

    Tile edging finishes

One of the reasons I ask, is this awkward transition, form the bath that sits almost the same height as window sill. I dont feel building window sill up is a good idea, as tiles will start to obscure window framing and will look odd i think. Was looking to make the window sill finish almost...

    Tile edging finishes

Wondering what the options (and fashions) are for edging. Particularly outside corner edges. What do you guys use, what do you prefer? Trim, butting, bull nose, mitering? -Trim: curved, square, mitred, inverted? -Butting, does anyone do this? -Bull nose seems nice. To use that, do you have to...

Can adhesive colour bleed to stain tiles or grout?

If using grey adhesive, can that dark colour bleed into grout or stain pale tiles from below? I have come across mention of it on here, but seemed a nebulous concept. Tried to search about and its not clear. It seems to be the case that adhesive dark colour can come through on pale tiles or...

    Preparation advice please

ok, not saying you guys are wrong, but some of the reasons for removing render arnt adding up. Im not implying Im going to just do my own thing regardless, or else i wouldnt be asking advice here, so please dont be offended by my debate. Agreed, if i was adhesiving the backer boards on then...

    Preparation advice please

Thanks for that. I did contemplate taking off the render, but wasnt sure how easily it would come off, so didnt want to start and find it was well stuck and not necessary to remove, but only after having left a a hole. But if boards are mechanically fixed on anyway, that will go though to the...

    Preparation advice please

Removed old tiles in a bathroom. New 60x30 porcs to go on. Plaster skim came off with odd tiles, so left with bonding coat (pic 1). Done some research and found that one shouldnt tile onto a bonding coat (2reasons: sucks moisture from adhesive but even if you thoroughly primed it hoping to...

Bad Tiling where do I stand?

Know this was while ago but I'd have suggested not to bother to contact him back. He'll probly disappear. If he contacts you, tell him, services no longer needed, change of plan and dont be paying for anything he has done.

    Metro and marble ensuite

ok, so you do the vertical frames, but leave the mid seciton noggins until you know where tiles will go. Then u inssert noggins, board and waterproof before continuing tiling? And cutting a hole in tiles the size for light fittings,do you use a bit the correct size or how do you do that?

Sub floor and UFH for upstairs bathroom

Porcelain floor tiles to go down. Existing floor is floorboards on joists. Was going to put 18mil wbp ply. But seems 6mm No More Ply is a better option (please correct if im wrong). Also seen premat mentioned. Much the same, or is one better than other. Then because of the heating, i wanted to...
