Dear Forum,
I have landed the daunting task of doing my 1st full bathroom using 12"x12" sandy cream porcelain. Also this is for some very good friends,so i want this to be the best job so far.
There is 24m2 brick set with a border to be done.
I have only done ceramics so far and im a bit concerned over all the sealing requirements for this job and also ensuring the substrate is suitable.
The bloke has stripped off the old tiles and i have told him that he will need to remove all traces, paint included.
The remaining walls look like its been plastered with some kind of sharp sand mix and feels solid if not a bit bumpy in places (Sanding down required i think).

Will N&C primer be suitable or is there something more specailised needed?????
The border will require sealing- that is known, but what about the rest of it and if so, what would you recommend.
At the moment, i use N&C's adhesive, that has been more than suitable for the jobs i've done, but is there something more specialised from the likes of Ardex or Bal that i should use for this?????

I look forward to hearing from you all soon, so please work your usual magic.😕 😕

If it's polished porcelain then I use Fila porcelain impreg sealer, if it's glazed porcelain then it don't need sealing.

Also check the adhesive is suitable for fixing porcelain.. not all are....usually needs to be porcelbond or flexi gear......and use flexi grout......as fekin say's not all porcelain needs sealing...glazed doesnt and through bodied does.....good luck and post us some pics in the tile gallery..

Pci Flexi Adhesive And Flexi Grout ,perfect For This Job,prime Walls First To Ensure A Good Bond.

RapidFlex from Nicbond will be fine for porc' as long as it is not being used on a gypsum plaster background.
If it it gypsum plaster, then they recomend Unique with a 50/50 universal sealer and bonding agent / water mix

Ardex D20 and 30 adhesives will be fine as well (don't need to mix these either!). D30 preferable around wet areas.
