hi guys a said previously a was going to post a weekly diary,what college are teaching,not much happening the first week iam afraid,lots a lectures and paperwork getting filled in.
d to strip
MON:cleaned up all the tools from the last course,and tried to make a kit up from what we had,managed to get the kit together,but must say tools all in a bad state of repair.
learned to applie adhesive to wall using the notched trowel,also practiced pinging chalk lines on the wall.
TUE:fixed battens to wall and making sure it was level,fixed a square meter of tiles to wall in straight pattern makin sure they were level and plumb.made a staff stick.stripped the tiles off wall ,scraped addy off tiles and wall into bucket for re-use,bit of a nitemare job think it hacked off a lot of the younger guys,butt hey hey we got to do that with everything we applie.
WED:literacy and numeracy assesment,tiled a square meter of tiles in brick/broken bond pattern.
THURS:tiled a 2 square meter area in brickbond with a straight set perimeter,
all cuts were scored with a scribe and snapped by hand, not been near a cutter yet.
FRI:not much happened on fri scraped walls ready for monday and got a wee half day,
hopefully get timetable this week as to when maths and technical drawing classes are,overall not a great week but needs to be done,learned a few different things already,
very positive i will come out of here a better tiler than a was ever going to be,so tune in next week for week 2
