4 tile pattern..

would you charge more for doing a 4 tile pattern, with 4 different size tile like opus pattern, than you would just laying a floor square...

Oh yes indeed, at least an extra £10 per m2. Takes longer to set out and lay than standard lay.

If it was a big floor and I was earning decent money then no but that's just me. I'm sure a lot of guys would if they could get away with it

priced a job 50m2 before they had chosen the tile and they have gone for a 4 tile pattern, some ive done have been stright forward, others have been a right pain, do any of you guys do a random pattern reather than a set pattern..

If it's your one time client, then as Bri- add £10 per sq.m. For long time contractor, would do with no extra charge (thgis time), but would worn that next time will.

I prefer to follow a pattern, if you do use a random, make sure you use the correct amount of each tile per m2 otherwise you may run out of one size/have too many left.

I would charge more and generally stick to a set pattern. If you errr away from a set pattern, chances are you will have to cut full tiles in the middle and possibly 5-6-7 different size tiles then. What has the customer asked for? Did they see the tiles in a set pattern?

opus ramano pattern i think, got to nip up and see them again, wont be much bother getting more money, it was writen in the quote that it was price on a square tile laid square, or retangle tile laid brick bond...

Don't charge any more myself if it's got a drawing of the pattern, it doesn't really take you that much longer than a lined floor. Although you do spend a bit of extra time working out where you are next if you get lost. :lol:

Come to think of it I've got lazy recently - used to charge more for broken bond and off the square but haven't been doing it lately - must get that nipped in the bud. :lol:

I prefer to stick to the pattern, as mentioned above it should mean you don't run out of a particular size or end up with a lot of the same size. I will change it slightly round the edges though to avoid slithers
