6mm Hardiebacker

Hardibacker and the likes are not to add rigidity they are to provide a more suitable base to tile to.
Tiling directly onto wood will always be problematic, wood is a live material and as such will stretch, shrink and deform in cetain conditions ie Heat, cold and moisture....backer boards dont.

My answer, very little if any at all. I had the same question with a rep for "No More Ply" a while back and i couldnt get a definate answer from them in terms of heat loss but they did admit it wouldnt be the same as insulation boards.
 
Thanks Sir Ramic, you have answered my initial question which i am thankful for, is it best to post my other question asked in this thread seperately for an answer or can you advise on that also.???????
 
HBB will not offer any insulation worth thinking about - I did the exercise of finding out myself a few months ago :smilewinkgrin:

Check out the U-Heat website and take a look at the dedicated insulation boards they sell:thumbsup:
