Hi! Googled around and not found any definitive help then found you so thought I would ask here for some advice...?! We've just replaced our fire grate and ripped the old 1930's surround out and need to replace - our ideal is wood surround and tiles inside. I'm guessing the tiles will have to be specialist heat-resistant ones but can anyone tell me:
- if we need special adhesive and grout also?
- and if encaustic tiles will be hardy enough for the hearth part (have some from a p+d friend for free - victorian pattern from fired earth)
- also do we have to do anything to the earth tiles as at the mo they're unglazed...
thanks so much if anyone can answer any of these - I'm hugely grateful!
