A Good Primer to use ?

I guess this has been asked a thousand times , but what is a good primer to use . I'm taking paint off down to plaster . Is there a particular primer I need ? Please excusr the rookie primer , i've only used tubbed that has apparently has needed none .

Maybe I should rephrase the question - what primer should I use when using single part , flexi cement base addy ( bal ) , onto a plaster substrate with paint removed ( most of ) ?

cheers Dave wasn't sure if you were using tub gear or not. If using bal addy use bal sbr But I generally use Mapei primer g with Mapei addys

what does it advise on the back of the bal bag? (I don't/won't use bal)

Thanks i'll have a look . Can you say why not? I trained using nico , was advised to use Ardex , but all my local stockists are Bal all the way !
I've used this particular stuff a few times and got on with it .

If you are using the Bal then use Apd primer.

I always use the same primer as the adhesive, in my case primer G with Mapei adhesive. Primers are not universal. I tend to stick to the primer the adhesive manufacturer recommends

I was using CDT but tops said they'd beat it and did . I'm still not sure if what i'm paying is cheap though .

we are more into contracts and have direct accounts with mapei, johnsons, pilks etc etc however for good service, price and stocks i don't think you can beat ceramic tiles in ipswich although both colchester and ctd are good at what they do. dunno why but i try not to use topps, although when i have used them they have been ok.
