Abutting Mosaics / Large format

I'm tiling an area of 11mm mosaics that abuts 12mm large format tiles. Am I okay tile the mosaics on to the same relatively thick bed of adhesive as the large format tiles or should I look to raise the area the mosaics are on?

11mm thick mosaics will probably be fine. Just tap them in gently onto the adhesive with your grout float. Obviously you do not want the adhesive oozing out of the grout lines of the mosaic. Or you could build out the wall a little bit with those mosaic backing sheets. I think they are about 1-2mm thick.

Main bit that I'm wondering about is 1.2m2 - covering an inset shower former. Mosaics are 50x50mm.

Make sure you always use a grout float to press them in evenly, and make sure you're applying the adhesive very evenly.

Come on bedding up mosaic on a wet room shower former is not the same as using the dog tooth method for mosaic borders. What type of former is it and what size(not thickness) are the mosaics ??

You have 3 good options, anything else will become messy Imo. 1, the large format area then screed the area for mosaic. 2 rapid set the back of each sheet and place on flat area then allow to set then simply tile as normal. 3, use mosaic backing sheets. Option 1 is best though, good luck.

Fix the main tiles to the floor and use a template to raise the bed of the mosaic 11mm to a slope into the falls of the former. A tiler would know this so it would certainly be worth replying to deanos post so we can give the right replies!

what size(not thickness) are the mosaics ??

I believe he said they were 50x50mm. I think people have been misreading your question. Looks like Deano & John are on the case.
I read it as you have already laid the large format floor tiles and are wanting help with the mosaic on the former (was on lunch break though!) If this is indeed the case, then my initial advice still stands..... Work clean and keep the adhesive bed even (depends on the adhesive bed depth of the main tiles in the first place of course). If say 2-4mm needs to be made up, then you could consider laying a membrane (such as mapetex or homelux) or a thin skim of adhesive before troweling the adhesive for the mosaic. If I have misunderstood, then so be it
