Adhesive for Porcelain tiles.

Hi guys brilliant site !.... I need some advise please I have 30x60 porcelain tile which are to be layed onto a sand and cement screed which is dry 1mm a day and all that. so the question is which adhesive should I be using ? also while I'm asking is a 10mm notched towel ok ? oh and do I need to seal them.

Hello Andrew, the adhesive I would use is a SPF (single part flexible), white if you are using a light coloured grout, grey if you are using a dark grout. 10mm round notch trowel (don't forget to back skim the tiles as well as troweling the floor). With regards to sealing, are the tiles polished porcelain? Do you have underfloor heating?

are you employing a tiler or doing it your self , if the latter i would also use a slow set addy,

Weber spf for me as Rob says slow set if your doing it yourself.

What tile are you using and maybe someone can advise as to wether to seal or not a lot of porcs do need sealing.

hi guys I used mapie spf in the end, great job very pleased butter back the tile as you said as well. I need to know if to seal them or not thou there are a polished porcelain? I did notice when cutting them the water seemed to stay on top as a bubble and not just slide off.

if they're polished they'll need sealing as the pores open in the polishing process and the grout will stick in the pores. best to make sure and do it

make sure when you seal the tiles to use an inpregnator seal not a surface seal do not allow to dry off on surface . allways clean off any ascess seal leaving floor dry

sealed the tiles before I grouted and need to know if I need to seal after as well .
