adhesive shrinking

put my bottom cuts(porcelain) in today using cercol standard set flexi over primed 12mm hardi backer after tiling the bathroom floor as I was cleaning up this evening I noticed that every cut had shrunk back causing lippage I had to strip them all off and re bed them flush :yikes:

did you use the same adhesive on the walls and on the cuts ?

Eh? Very odd, although I don't think any backer board requires priming to my knowledge anyway. It's more than likely that the floorboards weren't secured properly (screwed down) prior to overlaying. Plumber done his work before? Did you fix the backer board down as per instructions? Failing that, it's flappy walls??

Did you lay your floor and cuts with the same adhesive, that being different to the adhesive you used on the walls?

You've left the bottom cuts off the wall tiling, tiled the floor, then put the cuts in to the bottom row. The walls were 12mm Hardie tile backer boards and the adhesive a slow set cement based one.
Imo the hardie has drawn the moisture back into the board before the adhesive has time to set. I find using fast set flexible on heavier tiles and porcelain an advantage.

Interesting. Have found that some rapid sets can slump a bit with 600x600s on floors so started using grippy standard set which seems to stop them from sinking.
