WHID to?

Got a couple of little tiling jobs coming up:

4m2 of 150x150 white ceramic over a bath/shower that has been part tiled already. I will be tiling the area that is just painted matt emulsion at present.

1 en suite and one bathroom in a flat that is carpeted and chipboarded (I am guessing). Haven't even seen it yet (sister gets the keys on Friday). Realise I have to ply it out first and she will probably just want some standard ceramic floor tiles.

My question, and there is one, is what products would you recommend that I get in to cope with these first couple of jobs and also to have a play with in the shed at home - thinking tubbed adhesive, primer, SPF.

I know its all down to personal choice but I have not had the chance to dabble much yet. Would be interested in your suggestions on brand and product.

I promise, promise, promise to ply any chipboard floor I ever have to tile ;-)

I'd suggest you go to your local stockist to see what they have in.I'd bypass the tubbed stuff if I were you, something like mapei kerquick would be good adhesive, if your local stockist has this he'll probably have suitable primers and grouts too:thumbsup:

thought the tubbed stuff would be a good idea for a first job doug!
less for him to worry about with mixing up enough gear etc....

for the walls i would use bal white star, very easy to use, waterproof and you won't have to worry about bucket life, for the floor bal rapid set flexi and you should dry lay it first!

good luck:thumbsup:

p.s would scrape of the paint first before tiling!

Listen I don't want to get into it on here with another 'chipboards OK for tiling' type debate, but this emulsion thing is a bit confusing too. Everywhere you look you are being given conflicting advice. I am going to strip to be safe but sheesh its a buggar getting started!

My 'client' is going to be parcel taping up her walls this weekend to pull off all of the paint.... low mess option. Thanks for the advice chaps. Going to pop in CTD in Hampton this weekend.
