Hi Everyone,
Have a good day. I have purchased these porcelain tiles :: Roman :: Quality Ceramic Tiles in pakistan for an area of around 104 square meter. We need to lay them in garage where cars will be passing over them and we will need to wash it frequently with water. Unfortunately here in Pakistan there is lot of confusion about laying porcelain tiles.
The base of garage is of concerete, its unbalanced surface so what tile fixers will do is that first they will sprikle little pure dry cement over it then they will sprinkle little water over it immediately just after few minutes they will lay a mixture of cement + sand (3 portions sand with 1 portion of cement) which will be thick as 0.4 to 0.6 inch, then they will let it dry for 1 day and then they will lay tiles on it with a mixture of pure cement and water as adhesive, after that they will apply unsanded grout (i tried to find eproxy grout but could not find here).
When i asked tile fixers if we need any kind of bond or thin set-mortar (adhesives) they say that we don't need, As my reading on internet it seems thinset-mortar is what experts use everywhere in world for porcelain. One tile fixer told me that as base will be of cement+sand so cement will give it best strength, another tile fixer told me the best ratio is 2 portions of cement and 1 portion of thinset-mortar as adhesive.
So i am very confused about it and i want the tiles to be as long lasting as they can so kindly advice. The people who are selling your tiles are not able to advise and they even sold us wrong bond which is usually used in wet bath tiles and not porcelains.
This bond which is kind of think set mortar is available here also latex is available if you advise. Stile.com.pk | Shabbir Tiles
You have no idea how grateful i will be for your advices.
Thanks a lot for reading.
