Advice needed

Hi there,

I have recently had my walls and floor in the bathroom tiled with porcelain tiles, had to go back to the shop to by 3 extras as we had problems cutting to go round a pipe - the shop then said that i needed to strip and protect the tiles with the solution they then sold me - but then said that it should be done before grouting.

I was never told this before and they say that I can discolour the grout by doing this now - I'm worried about doing this and ruining the new bathroom.

Any advise / help would really be appreciated.

why did they not tell you that when you purchased the tiles :mad2: sounds like you need to strip the transit wax off then seal the tiles they must be polished porcelain

i assume were talking about polished porcelain,and they are talking about transit wax which should have been stripped of before grouting have you done the tiling or have you employed a tiler, were did you get the tiles from what solution have they sold you

I got them from tops tiles, yes its the transit wax, they sold me some stripper and then a sealant, i picked the tiles i liked in store and then ordered them on line - but they never told me to do this until now :mad2:

Will it damage the grout? Do i have to do this?

the wax needs to come off and the tiles need to be sealed so yes worse case sinario regrout but you might be lucky

to be fair mate my local branch are good as gold to me pass me on quite a lot of leads and all it costs me is a bag of doughnuts once a month :smilewinkgrin:

Yes but do they charge you 50% over SRP ?

get good prices for grout and addy mate only use it to buy the bal stuff and trims 70 to 80 % discount
