Advice on Tiling over marble

I have a client with a tired marble floor, they want to over tile with travertine..I suspect it could be treated like a concrete base, should I just use a regular flexi quick set...the floor has not been waxed and is no longer particularly shiny. Any advice welcome.

cant they let you strip back and re prep?

Why not sort the marble floor out? Re-polish it.

Again the old chestnut of tile on tile, best to remove old floor imo.

The tiles are solidly fixed installed in 1968.....just tired and chipped, stained with rust. Would it not be like tiling over natural concrete? I could understand issues with a glazed vitreous tile and would personally recommend removal.

Best to remove as the chances of getting all the old sealers and wax of the tiles is near impossible then you need to run a diamond rough pad on a grinder over it to rough up the surface ,time you do that floor could be up and gone then you have a clean surface to tile

remove the old tiles , and start from scratch , that way the floor may last as long as the last one, over tiling is not good practice , is the customer adamant on over tiling discuss the pit falls with them imo
