applying artex

yes oh yes i have someone who wants an artex ceiling in there bathroom:glasses:

i have tried talking them out of it but to no avail

i cant find and plasterers who offer this anymore,is it an easy job to do?

maybe one of the lads with plastering background can heklp me out

i have done artexing in the passed,

best to apply artex

with a large pasting brush, then use what ever tool to create the desired pattern, hope this helps

I have skimmed it on like plaster, i did try the brush but couldnt get it on thick enough although it may have been too stiff a mix.

Apply as per runny plaster with a smooth even coat.
While still wet use the required rubber stippling tool, comb or wet sponge with further wet artex to feature design.
Its been years but again its the preparation (taping, sealing) that counts.

Still got the 'bark' effect on a large sloping ceiling in our extension and apart from the cobwebs its still an interesting feature to what would be a bland smooth surface IMO.
I'll have to get the wife up on the ladders to paint it.

i remmeber 20yrs ago watching 3 guys artex ceilings on a houseing site, one would splash it on using what looked like a broom one would come behind stippling and the last chap would paint round the edges and the lights, truly an art to watch and they were quick to.

wood chip wall paper maybe, can you still get that

basket weave wallpaper. my parents decided to have sections of their lounge re-papered when the old stuff came off the wall, but had to have the basket weave specially ordered from B&spew... cost em more than having the whole room stripped and started again with something new :mad2:
