Bad Friday

Went to finish a bathroom off today, just had to grout and Silicon. All grouted up by 1pm, grout set by 2pm so dusted off and hoovered round ready for Silicon. Pulled the blue protective polythene off the shower tray only to find it cracked all the way across, had to ring plumber (his job), break the bottom row of cuts off and remove tray. Tanking and plasterboard is now buggered and I only had one spare tile so gonna have to try and find a box of the same batch. It's soul destroying having spent so much time on a room, making the prep work and tiling spot on, only to have to remove it because of someone else's **** up. Not sure who to blame really, was it damaged before fitting? To me it looks like a transit crack, it's a resin tray and the crack goes all the way through to the back, I'm surprised its not in two pieces! I can't help but feel the tanking is going to be compromised when its repaired. Worst of all I know I'm not going to get my extra money for fixing it.

I'm calmed down a bit now but I was filled with fury about 2 hours ago, lol! Not much I can do about it, oh well!

better make sure they dont blame you for it.......did no one check it before fitting..? will the merchants take it back after its been fitted..?

There's no way they can blame me, it has had one hell of a bang, even dropping a box of tiles wouldn't have done that. Even with the protective polythene on, I still put a dust sheet over a shower tray, when I'm working on it. Deffo been damaged during transit or fitting.

I always take pro-cover off before fitting tiles(bath and showers). Check it all then get them covered back up. Got caught out before with a bath like that. It ain't fun having to rip it back out

its amazing how much stuff from plumbers merchants gets delivered damaged, they must just bung it on the back off the wagon, and drive like lunatics...

Nasty Bri, I feel for you. Hard work has to be undone and redone again. Nothing worse than having to do a job twice. I agree with TJ, get your gnashers round a creme egg :drool5:

I suggested a repair Phil, but the clients weren't going to entertain that. It had cracked all the way through to the underside, so probably not even an option.
