BAL TILE&GROUT grouting time scale.

Hi All

Just a quick question. I am tiling a small bathroom sink splashback tomorrow, only 2 sheets of travertine mosaic. The customer has decided along with the guys from my local topps that I am using BAL Tile&Grout to stick and grout the mosaic. In my little BAL brochure it states that I need to grout after 24hours. Does this time scale still need to stuck to if I am grouting with the Tile&Grout, because surely there is going to be a certain amount of tile&grout coming through the grout lines in the mosaic once stuck.

Mmm, I wouldnt be so happy with this. IMO you will still need to wait for the addy to dry and the mosaics are fixed secure before grouting. So you may as well use proper grout....in which case you may as well use proper adhesive.
So tile as normal, cleaning off any excess. Let them dry, then grout, then seal.

Im sure others will have advice as well, good luck

Personally, an Adhesive and Grout combo is never a good idea. Grout and Adhesive do two very different jobs. I have had alot of bad feedback from Adhesive/Grout combos, even the BAL stuff. If you have no choice in the matter, then I would think it would be best to still wait 'til the adhesive has dried before grouting.

Yeah, I know what you mean about proper G & A. I was a Topps man, and I used to push people away from buying it. The grout tends to crack. I'm thinking of taking along some toppfix rapidset white and some decent grout and try and persued them.

would defo use the toppfix rapid set mate and grout the same day! wouldn't be going back for something as small as that the next day!

Its one of those Topps approved fitter jobs. The idea is that the store gets the customer to buy everything the tiler needs ( a Rubi cutter would be nice :lol🙂. Its a shame the guys in store dont think about drying times and how it affects the the person doing the job. I'm picking everything up in the morning, Ill speak to them then. I'm sure the customer will be ok with rapidset.
