a couple of questions ,after reading the threads on the forums ,i realise that there is so many different adhesives, for different Job's I buy my tiles and adhesive from tile it all, a tub either for wood or stone walls, that's the limit of my knowledge, is there a standard adhesive I should ask for say for gyprock or stone walls,
also ,do you tilers use spacer's, I start off using them but find them pretty useless not pushed in far enough and show through the grout, pushed to far back and get lost in the adhesive,
finally when I tile round a window I try to get the tiles matching at both sides, but when I come to the other end where I have a cut tile going into the trim,I can see its a cut tile, and it does not look right, but don't see any way round this,
i have to say what a great forum this is,plenty of info
thanks:huh2:

Yes i always use spacers mate, don't put them in flat, push a pointy end in then when the adhesive is set you can just remove them (and use again).
Don't really understand the question reguarding the window, there is no choice but to have a cut tile. If you mean you can see the edge of the cut on the trim it may be you are not using the correct size trim.
For info on adhesives mate just take a look at the adhesive thread, loads of info on there.

hi sanny.....

Most tiling can be done with a good quality acrylic adhesive ( tubbed dispersion )
It is usually wise to prime all substrates before commencing with tiling...use a primer and not PVA....
Dispersion adhesives are good for ceramics and mosaics...it can be used on tiles up to a certain sized format..about 300mm x 250mm..any bigger than this it is advisable to switch to powdered adhesives
Bs5385 advises that you use joints when Wall and floor tiling.. so pegs or equivalent should be used..if you have probs with pegs in the corners of tiles then just peg the face of the tiles until set and then pull them out...
As for the trim dilemma careful placing and the right sized trims should do the trick.
