Bathroom extractor fan isolator, acceptable to only switch line conductors? Discussion ThreadBathroom extractor fan isolator, acceptable to only switch line conductors? Electrical Advice
Hi all, first post, please be gentle
Iv been involved in a bathroom refurb, nothing major, moving a light fitting and switch.
My problem came when it was announced during second fix a bathroom fan was also to be installed with isolator. I've managed to pick up a permanent & switched live (using 2core & earth) from the light switch to a 3pole isolator mounted above, then owards to the lighting jb for a neutral, 3core & earth from jb to extractor unit.
Despite best efforts (and much wasted time) i could not get two 3core & earths to where the isolator is situated (as i would usually do) without causing significant damage to finished walls.
So, in short, my qestion is, is it acceptable to only switch the line conductors and not neutral for a bathroom extractor? The earthing system is TN.
As far as i can tell, im working within regs, but any advice / guidance would be appreciated!
