Bathroom floor and wall tiling

Hello

I'm new to this forum and would appreciate some friendly and sensible advice.

I generally do small plumbing jobs but I've got the chance to do a full bathroom refurb. This will include removal of wall tiles and old lino flooring and replacement with wall and floor tiles. The toilet, bath, basin etc will be replaced. The bathroom is fairly small- 1500wx2500lx2200h. The property will be occupied while the work is carried out and the client insists on the toilet being operational as far as possible.

I'm trying to work out a programme for the floor and wall tiling bearing in mind in particular the toilet requirement.

Would it be better to place the new toilet pan onto the new floor tiles?

I've got reasonable experience in floor and wall tiling but have always worked around existing fittings etc.

If you mark out all the walls and floors first so that you know where the cuts are going, then you could remove the loo and fix just those tiles first, re position the loo after they are dry. Use a cement based adhesive for all tiling, tubbed is no good.

As long as you can connect the pan up on a night the toilet can flushed with a bucket of water. Customers can usually put up with this for a night or two.

^^Thats what i do, but i always leave the old pan in until the job is finished just in case it gets damaged!

Get a camping portaloo - and make sure its sealed clean at the start of each job!
