Hi, I've read lots of posts on what would be best to fit floor tiles in my bathroom.
I had decided to rip all the floorboards up and fit 18mm wbp ply, once the old floor covering and bath was out, I was left with a really solid floorboards, no noticible movement even while jumping about, seems a shame to rip it all up, especially as the joists are about 10" from the one stud wall
My question for my application is...
Can I just fit 6mm hardibacker over all the floorboards glued and screwed and tile to that as I don't want too much of a step up?
Thanks

Re: Barhroom floorboards

As above make sure your subfloor is sound and then make sure your substrate is fully fixed with adhesive first and screws every 6 inches apart or so and make sure to reinforce all joints with 2" wide, alkali resistant glass fiber cement backerboard tape covered with a smooth layer of adhesive and you ull be ready to go the weight restrictions are 30kg/m2 on hardibacker i beleive....But im sure someone will correct me there lol
