Hi all,
I'm about to update my bathroom, half tiled on 2 walls, fully tiled on 2 walls around bath. The 2 walls around bath are stud with skimmed plasterboard, other 2 are plastered breeze block.
I'm going to tile all walls floor to ceiling.

I'm going to rip the plasterboard tiled walls down and replace with new 12.5mm plasterboard which will
be tanked, onto this new wall will be a quadrant shower enclosure which the bathroom shop said would be fine just securing through tile and plaster, but I'm concerned this won't be secure enough, is it worth adding additional stud work to secure to while the plasterboard is already down, or will just the tile/ plasterboard really hold it well?

The other question is when I remove tiles from the half tiled block walls I'm positive some plaster will be removed along with the tiles, is this easy to patch up if things aren't too bad? I don't really want to do down the route of getting a plasterer in or dot and dab plasterboard, the top half of the wall is just painted so fine.
I've got 400 x 300 ceramic tiles and am just pricing up mapei keraquick.
Thanks for any info.

Definitely add some stud work for the shower quadrant while the boards are off.
Bad advice from your bathroom store imo.
Patching up after you've removed the tiles is easy enough with some rapid set, and keraquick
is a great choice of adhesive for your job.

:welcome: John. - why not go for 12mm waterproof tile backer boards and fix directly to the studwork, waterproof tape and seal all the joins and you will not need to tank. It will also provide the strength to support the cubicle.
Good luck and enjoy.
Keep tuned in to tilers forum and don't forget Administration love photos.
