Bathroom Walls

Hey guys I want to tile a bath splashback and in an ensuite all the walls using 400*250 ceramic tiles. The walls are plastered over plasterboard currently emulsioned. Both rooms are upstairs. I know I need to remove the paint. What is a gd adhesive and grout to use? Do they need to be flexible? Thanks Stevie

I like Tilemaster but can't seem get it locally nowadays, there grout is good as well.

Brands I can buy locally are Dunlop mapei (bal - topps, would rather not have to sell the house to pay for adhesive tho!)

I would like something that has a good work time as I'm really slow!

Mapei keraflex? Is this suitable?

Go for the mapei p9 it's a slow setting flexible and will be good if your slow. Don't forget to prime the walls before tiling.

Sorry to be dumb but I'm guessing plaster skimmed plasterboard needs a flexible adhesdive and grout then?

Thanks I'll check and see if I can get p9, if I use this do I have to use the mapei primer? Or will any SBR do?

I can't find mapei k9 on any tile suppliers website! Only place that stocks mapei I a b&q, screwfix (both seem to not use type names that I read about here) the other place sells mapei but only lists a few different adhesives on their webpage. I will call in there tomoro and ask about ,k9, if they don't have any they list keraflex, would there be much difference between k9 and keraflex? Says on the keraflex data sheet 8 hour pot life, and adjustability time 60 mins, is this standard/ slow set?

It's p9 not k9 that's an animal yes a sbr will be fine.

Imo I doesn't need to be flexible. ....I use weber set plus and there's approx £5 per bag difference between that and flexible adhesive...

I use Mapei P9 most of the time on walls. It has limited flexibility but its a great adhesive for the money.

I use Topps white flexible slow set Around £18 /20kg Trade . Really good stuff

I got keraflex , was the only mapei I could get but hoping it will tick all the boxes anyhow! I bought primer g to go with it, so it says apply, wait two hours to dry and then tile away? My question is after I coat the walls how long can it be before I have to re apply the SBR\ primer g? For example can I coat the walls one morning and come in the next and tile or do I need to reapply primer g? Once Its SBR primed is it primed forever or is there a open time?

Once the sbr is dry paint on the primer G then tile as it goes off pretty quick.

Sorry I got it mixed up with the prime grip. Once it's had a good prime let it dry then tile away. I personally would re seal if I went back the next day.
