lasers are very good tool....as long as they are on a solid floor!...and dont get knocked when in use.... if your setting one up on floor boards, and there is movement in the floor when you walk on it,it can c o ck things up, that is of course if you have the tripod sort, if the floor is subject to movement,i usually use a "water level" ...good for going around corners unlike a laser can! been in use for 1000 's of years...still spot..if the user knows what he is doing!!!!!

The best way is to spend some time setting out your walls to enesure you get the best cuts all round. Then, usually from your first row of tiles (Or second / third etc - depending on whats easiest) you set your datum line around your room.

This is done with a spirit level and a pencil. Draw your line around the room, making sure the spirirt bubble is bang on every time.

Then, set your baton on the line - either above or below, depending on which way you are going to tile.

You can either use a couple of screws for this, or some liquid nails for the more permanent fixing. If using screws, make sure you drill some pilot holes through the batons first, otherwise you will split the wood when screwing in.

A laser level is the best and quickest way. Look here for some advice:

All the best mate :)
