Best tool for the job???

Hello all, just wondering what tool you all use to take old grout out when re-grouting if any of you do it all, ive got a tool but not up to much really its very hard work. What is you prefered choice??

Fein Multimaster is usually the preferred tool.

If you can get hold of a fein multimaster, an oscilating saw ideal for that! Still have to be a little careful not to damage the tiles

Some lads use a fein multi master or similar. Pricey though, the last blade I bought for grout was £35! Apart from that I'm afraid it's a carbide grout rake from a tile shop but it's hard work isn't it!

You could use a dremel

I cant see a dremel being up to the job, get yourself a fein multi master, comes in real useful not just for removing grout.

A dremel with a good diamond bit will make short work of grout, just don't buy the dremel branded diamond stuff, it's crap for some reason. I bought a cheap set of 50 diamond bits off ebay about 2 years ago, it's still going strong despite having cut/carved loads of rock hard porcelain.

Bosch now has a version of the Fein multi, by the way, it's less than half the price of the Fein in NZ. Haven't used one yet so can't comment as to it's build quality.

Fein, no doubt about it, superb, loads of uses nad variable control. Yes the Bosch is cheaper, but you have to ask why?
