best tubbed adhesive to use workwise and pricewise

just like to no what peoples thoughts are on this subject when i have been doing jobs lately i have been using bal green star,which although is a bit more expensive than some adhesives i find it to be quality, does anybody suggest any other readymixed adhesives to use that are not as expensive.

Sure; do you have a Tile Giant store near you? (www.tilegiant.co.uk to check) They do Mapei adhesives; Mapei are the World's largest manufacturer of building materials and their adhesives are really good quality. Got lots of guys on here switching from BAL to Mapei due to price and quality. Green Star is the cheapest BAL tubed adhesive and it's good, your right, but for the same price you can get the equivalent to BAL White Star/Grip in a Mapei. Definitely worth thinking about.

I personally (and so do many guys on here) don't use tubbed adhesive any more. They take too long to set, have a maximum thickeness you can bed to and not as cost effective as a good quality powdered adhesive.

as others i now prefer to use bagged adhesives,but if i had to use a tubbed gear then only bal white star(as stated many times to others),it's waterproof and really easy to work with,don't know where you get your green star from but thats the cheapest product i can get my hands on

Tubbed adhesive is not waterproof, water resistant maybe. Unless Epoxy.

Like the rest of the lads, I would recommend using cementitious bagged adhesive before a bucket product every time. It's easier to use, dries quicker and far superior for hanging larger tiles.

For a standard set bagged adhesive you can't go far wrong than get Mapei P9. It's polymer modified for use with vitrified and porcelain tiles and ideal for tile on tile (although I am not condoning tile on tile - but it is the only option sometimes)

I really only use bucket adhesive for splashbacks where the walls are fine

Mapei's Mapestik D1 is IMO a better product than Green Star and should be around the same price, if not alittle cheaper (Dependant on what you pay ofcourse)
