Big Tile Cutter

Just pricing a job where the client has bought 1000x330mm porcelain tiles from porcelanosa. They are for walls and floor but here's the rub, my gear can only handle up to 730mm with my TX700N or 630mm with my Rubi radial. I cannot find anyone who hires them out near me (Tyne Valley, Newcastle area) so am at a bit of a loss. Do any of you local guys know where I can hire something appropriate? The alternative I suppose is to buy one and add it into the cost but I reckon thats a bit extreme.

Could always use a grinder for the long cuts. I've got a tx1200 you can borrow but it's a 350 mile round trip!

I bought a Sigma 1280mm pretty cheaply, does a hell uv a job

Didn't know that they did hire. Will give them a buzz. Looking at the DeWalt hand held DWC410 wet cutter. Someone has it on for just over £100 new. Would come in handy for cut-outs too instead of taking teh guard off my table top cutter.

That is cheap for the dewalt cutter.. i have a bran new one of those, not used it yet..

My local supplier STS in Leeds hires out the 1m cutters if thats not too far away, about 1.25 hours I used to get to Team Valley in. But not in a van

Used the same size from Porcelanosa a couple of weeks ago, fortunatley I had full tile from shower former 7 high then trim :smilewinkgrin:

Not the staightest tile in the world Spooner, they are ok as long as you keep the print on the back all going the same way

not sure if this would work but could you score the tile with the cutter from your rubi with a straight edge and snap by hand or with one of those snaping tools (like the ones on the rubi cutters but free standing)

CTD do a Rubi TX1200 for a fiver a day. Sorted. Now all I have to worry about is the load per metre on the walls and what we have to do to make sure these monsters don't drop on anybodies head.

5 quid a day for a 1200. my local dealer wanted 25 euro a day for a sigma 3c (i think , 750mm anyway) it was cheaper for me to buy it than hire it for a week or 2

That was what I was expecting to have to do, surprised at how cheap it is. Also its a TX1200, I've just bought a TX700N and its a great piece of kit so I know it'll be good.
