Hi all,

I call it blotchy grout as I can't think of a better word, couple of times now I've used Sandstone by Sovereign, other light coloured Grouts and Gentle Dawn by Ardex. They dry light obviously but I seem to get areas that just remain as if still wet long after the drying process, I've used white adhesive so it's not staining, anybody ever come across this before. Gives a horrible effect to the finished job. Basically certain areas just don't seem dry in colour even though they are? It canhappen completely randomly too ie in the middle of a line
Help! :)

Pigments in the mix occasionally cause 'blotchy' grout lines.

Will make 'blotchy' my word for the day tomorrow!

Great word TJ

OED describes 'blotchy' as 'Fergie's nose and cheeks'

Most likely cause is too much water when washing down. Is it a grout you use on a regular basis? Is the depth of grout even, again if it differs in thicknesses this will effect finished colour

To overcome increasingly common blotchy grout situation our customers have been very satisfied by using our Grout Colorant - available in a range of colours. Much easier than raking out and re-grouting. Can also be used to re-colour existing grout to a new shade.

Here's a video I made to show the application.
