I've yet to meet a spreader that doesn't think it's acceptable to tile on to this.
I've also met quite a few tilers who fix to this all the time. :mad2:

Was just wondering if it's okay to skim over the odd area of bonding that a plasterer has applied to level a wall with something like wickes one coat, let it dry, prime and tile as normal for a plaster wall.

Just don't want to talk myself out of another job by giving correct advice.
Customer doesn't want to go the overboard route.

I'll know more when I see it to quote on Tuesday. Only spoke to the guy on the phone but sounds like 3 walls are aqua paneled but the last one has been made good with a rough plaster that his spreader has said is fine for tiling.
Me being the pessimist I am, I kind of know what I'm going to find. Lost out on a few jobs because of bonding as other tilers have said no problem and tiled it whereas I have always specced removal and reboard or a skim.
Would just love to squeeze this job in next week and then I'll be booked up till new year, January is normally really slow!

i never tile on bonding coat , you could skim it , but then you have to let it dry ,adding time to the job, or you cold remove it and reboard
which i prosume the customer want do , due to other advice they have had
explain the pitfalls of tiling onto bonding
no one likes loosing work , what size tiles are we talking about

I don't mind skimming small amounts to make good but wouldn't take on a whole wall. So if I was to skim over the bonding with something like wickes one coat finish would that be a way forward?
I'm assuming it would bond well to the browning, set fast and be suitably strong and stable to receive tile once primed.
But you know what they say about assumptions!

It's always the option I would go for Kilty but most customers tend to go elsewhere after I tell them that.
It might not be too bad when I see it for myself, just after some options.
