If any of you are with LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter, there is this guy called Mark Shaw who seems genuine to me who has started a system of requests & referrals, simply this means anyone at all who is looking for any kind of service can put a request in and others reply offering themselves or someone they know. He calls the group of members the @msrfr tribe, (short for Mark Shaw's requests for recommendations), I'm probably making a pigs ear of explaining it but I have observed it over the last few days on twitter and it's easy enough, have even had cause to recommend one of our TF sponsors for one of the requests. And yes, it's free

probs wouldn't work for me G as I'm only doing local work via personal recommendations these days, but I can see how it would have it's advantages if you want to do networking etc

Yes, Doug, it is to get your name round - the whole point of networking. But it does work on a local level, too, as people would just, ideally say, I'm looking for a really good tiler in Kendal, just moved house, (or whatever) and if you are known then people will just insert your name. Free advertising.

Oh there is also purpledognet | The purple dog's blog! alslo found out about them on twitter, also for small businesses helping each other, and msrfs and they are mutually supportive on twitter, which I really like, it's about being constructive, not competitive in a negative way.
