Brushed marble, like honed is more susceptable to staining, as the polishing process, in effect increases the surface density, and temporarily creates a surface that holds moisture longer, giving you more time, before the stain ingresses, brushed stone firstly in its raw state will greedily suck on the moisture penetrating the surface and secondly is harder to remove due to the texture. Yes requires sealing, and more thoroughly than polished or satin effect.
