Caliibrated !!!

If you were told that the slate tiles you were given to use were Calibrated and to be used in a Opus Romano pattern, what would you expect from this Calibrated Slate ??

I would expect the slate to be all the same thickness as near as poss, but more so that the sizes would work in opus with the same joint, I think I know whats coming:yikes:

Same as Phil.... I would expect the size and thickness of the tiles to have been checked and matched as near as......... As the customer would have paid a premium for calibrated slate.

Lol , dont you just Phil...........main tile 600 x 400. large square 405 x 405, small square 204 x 204, smaller rectangle 400 x 204....... thickness varied between 6mm and 16mm :mad2::mad2::mad2:

Yeah the tile shop tried that with me but I soon shot him down. Client was fuming with them and so was the builder.
I just told the shop that the maths didnt add up, they didnt argue with that when they realised I wasnt stupid and I wasnt prepared to cut the 3 oversizes down to size when there is 36m2 of floor.

They are taking them back and I have sourced a replacement tile.

They tried to say at one point that they were not calibrated but its clearly marked on the box that they are and on their website.

Typical shops !! i have one this week who supplied me with 6 bags of rapid set adhesive to lay 52m2 of porcelain floor tiles, and 10kg of grout and me with 5mm joints,lol.
They know it all.
