Can I tile over paint?

I have to quote for a bathroom 23m2 walls but they have been painted the walls are plaster it might be a big job taking the paint off can i just score the walls?

Also how much in the UK would you quote for 23m2 walls 1 window and 5m2 floor tiles all 200x200 ceramic tiles + mats also shower has to be tanked.

I'm new to tiling, so don't know If I can be of a lot of help to you. But I have a sister who lives in Perth so I keep track of things over there and would one day hope to be tiling over there myself, I have noticed myself that ALL the skilled occupations over there earn less than they do here in the UK, but for a compirison, I think for both wall & the 200x200 floor tiles your looking at about £15 per sq mtr. I'm sure the more experienced guy's on the forum will advise you better if I'm a little out with my quote.

on the course i went too we got told to use some masking tape...place it on the wall rub it in... leave for a few hours ...rip it off ..if the paint comes of then do what gaz says !!
if not then you would probably only need to score it and then prime it ...

(but then again 23sq mtr is a bg area ...play safe mate like gaz says lol)

If you are not going to sand the paint off then you need to make sure that you at least remove all the loose flakey bits, then score the paint and acrylic prime the walls. But personally I would do as Gaz recommended and remove paint, it's your safest option.
