I have a cast iron bath which I want to install in my bathroom. I've stripped the bathroom and it's about to be replastered. The bath can be carried by two people so is not excessively heavy but will obviously cause issues with tiling (crack thin ones etc. when full w/ person). Several options:

1. Thick quarry tiles - bathoom is on first floor so I don't want to make the room too heavy for the beams.

2. Wooden strips/tiles below bath.

3. coasters under feet?

Anybody have experience/advice?

use a porcelain bodied tile and make sure the bed is solid then no probs..also make sure no deflection in the sub-floor..........dave..

Cheers! Other advice (on screwfix) was to make a plywood plinth, but most people seem to agree on a solid bed/flex adhesive.

One other q; how thick does the boarding on the floorboards (it's a 2nd floor) have to be?

would be wise with the weight you are adding to use 15mm ply to strengthen .......dave..
