Cataract operation

Hi been to see the consultant at Grantham hospital and booked in for the 13th September for the op. in my right eye, this follows on from having a detached retina in the same eye less than 2 years ago, the gas used in this operation has helped to bring on the cataract early .

when the nurse was sorting out the appointment date, she did not look at the earliest date for the op, but counted 81 days from somewhere on the calendar, and then looked at an appointment book for that date Friday the 13th. this works out at 12 weeks ish from what i can only assume was my referral date from the optician. this magic 81 days must be the waiting period for this hospital or type of operation,

has anyone had this op, and what would you think would be the down time from work in our trade following the op.

hi mate, I had it done last year in my left eye, and you will need to be off work for 4/6 weeks!!...you cant lift anything to begin with, and have to put drops in you eye 5 times a day, it will be at least 7 days before you can see properly and drive..

Had both eyes done but not at the same time and had no problems with mine, had to sleep with an eye protector on for a short while but did'nt have to long off work but was very careful when working with dust.
