Hi Guys / Girls

I have a customer that wants equal cuts on both sides on all four walls. On the window wall (window off centre) could I centre in the middle of the wall? I could and then see what the cuts were like at the window (could even centre 3/4 of a tile) or do I have to centre in the middle of the window? If I centred in the middle of the window surely the cuts at either end would not be equal? Advice as always appreciated.

Best Wishes

The only way to get equal cuts at both ends of each wall is to center each wall and tile either side of the center line with a full tile, so the actual middle point "the actual center" line of the wall is a grout line.

So if the customer wants that, Id mark it out like this and see where the cuts fall around the window, then show the customer exactly how the window will look, then it's their choice.

If the window has been installed centered in the wall exactly then both would be the same obviously, but if it isn't then the tiling will not be uniformed around the window, "that's how I always tile window walls, center the window, as long as cuts are ok at the end of the wall".

So yes, if the window is off center and you center the window to start tiling then the cuts on each end of the wall will be different.

You could also start along your centre line with the centre of the tile , this would also give you equal cuts ast either side. Also may give you some flexibility with the window if fekin's method proves troublesome.

Very true

Never had to do it that way yet though, but true all the same.
