Cerafix ready mixed probs

Hi new to here. Found this site because I was looking to see if anyone else was having probs with cerafix.
Anyone reccomend a good non-slip showerproof ready mixed glue that is problem free?

what tiles are you trying to fix with it?
and what substrate are you trying to fix the tiles to?

Yes the cerafix is from B&Q. The tiles are ceramic 25x40. the walls are plaster which I have sealed. The glue sticks to the walls but not very well to the tiles. A previous post with the same prob suggested using a different glue as the cerafix is problematic

how did you seal the plastered walls??

:welcome: your on the borderline with fixing 400mm successfully with tubbed addy and it will take a long time for the adhesive to dry through successfully

your best bet is to switsh to a bagged addy, buildfix from B&Q is made by mapei

when you say you primed the plasterboard , what did you use

ah Pva is a definate no no in tiling as it reactivates when the addy hits it forming a barrier and preventing the addy from going off

you will need to strip the tiles off and start again im afraid, your best bet is to re plasterboard as well as this will give you a long lasting job

theres no need to prime plasterboard when you use bagged addy

:yikes: pva is a no no in the tiling world, particularly when combined with ready mixed adhesives. the water in the ready mixed adhesive makes the pva become "live" again.

but that still doesn't explain why it doesn't stick to the tile.

you need to sand off the pva layer and buy yourself a good bagged powder adhesive that you mix yourself. powdered adhesives set by chemical reaction whereas ready mixed adhesives need air contact to the allow the moisture to dry out.

powdered adhesives can be made up in small batches, so you don't have to worry about not mixing it right. mix it according to the instructions and you'll be fine. it's like making a cake :smilewinkgrin:

Best to buy a spade and bury the ready mixed and pva out of sight. Then get some bagged adhesive preferably ctfa so that you have a longer open time with the mix. As said before the pva is a non starter.
