i always think of doing a job in the same way as going shopping in a supermarket ,at the end you should pay!! if you can't afford the shopping then don't go shopping, like wise if you can't afford to pay the tradesman the don't employ him, because the money he earns he has to buy his shopping with!!!!:lol::lol:

Spot on mate:thumbsup:

I did a small claim at the county court before xmas ,I had been waiting over 90 days for the final payment on a smallish job finished at the end of june ,the quantity surveyor kept telling me that my payment had been approved and it was down to the accounts office ,I must have called the guy responsible 40 times, sent loads of e-mail and several faxes but he never called me back or returned any of my messages ,big companies often do this as most subbies dont pursue it after a while and write it off as a bad debt leaving the main contractor quids in ,my money was paid straight after they recieved the small claim, paid outside their normal cheque run ,so my advice is keep chasing send e-mail and faxes then if you are still ignored take them to the small claims court, it worked for me good luck with getting your dosh, Gary

I had to use a debt collection agent last year for a builder from Manchester. I had done a job for him down in Eastbourne and he was totally trying to mug me for 1200 quids :incazzato::mad2: coz he thought he was a nice enough distance from me - anyway after numerous letters back and forward(which went on for 6 months), I got sick and gave it to a company from Wales to collect and got a payment by BACS into my bank account, via the collector, within 4 weeks after they had deducted their 10% fee. Should have done it earlier in the fiasco, but hey ho....:hurray:

If anyone wants the details of that collection company just PM me they were brilliant...
