i sold some stuff to chris roe today and what a nice genuine fella he is.
he's a regular on here and an aquaintance of sir ramic (neale).

chris, is up the wall doing up one of his properties but we shared a cuppa tea and he gave me some great tips on getting slc really flat and smooth as one of his business areas is Karndean and if you have ever fitted that then you realise just how bang on the slc has to be!!

anyway, thanks again chris, pleasure meetting you mate

I can vouch for Chris, he was on a tiling course when I was at the training centre there. Top bloke. We PM every now and again and he did tell me about his property venture so I'm really pleased to hear he's still at it.

Didn't know he was an acquaintance of Neale's though!

Chris lives a couple of miles away, 5 minutes by car if the traffic is kind. Just tiled an EnSuite for him at his property that he is working on. he has passed quite a few jobs on to me now that he has stopped tiling and I agree top bloke.
He is on a learning curve with this house he is doing but it should sell itself as its a nice house in a sought after area.

sorry bit late on this

best tips for perfect slc..

mix thoroughly!! this cant be emphasized enough!! use a whisk that doesnt allow to much air into the slc. also, measure water ratio to bags accurately!!

1.mix in a rigid bucket to get everybit of the compound thoroughly mixed. gorilla tubs have too much give in them.
2. use a squeegee to disperse and spread the slc so that it gets distributed evenly. pour enough to cover around 1 meter deep and what ever length you can confidently control..
3. finally, go over the area that you have spread useing a spiked aeration roller. this takes any air bubbles out of the slc and allows a smooth finish. use a 1 - 2 motion. ie one forward roll, then finish off pulling back, then repeat etc
4. now do your next band width, overlapping with the roller to get a uniform finish

note. some people think that the roller is all you need but it isnt, the squeegee with depth gauges does the spreading and distribution, the roller simply takes the air pockets out of the mix .

remember that kardean & amtico floor layers are the best at floor prep because if they get in wrong, the kardean will show up any discrepancies, so these guys know their stuff...

i am sure mr roe can add tips
