...at the end of the day.

what's your "system" for cleaning up tools etc at the end of a days tiling...?

looking to get ideas as I want to keep my tools in the best condition possible.

do you use wd40 on your trowels at the end of the day? after cleaning tools, where do you pour all the dirty water etc as I'd imagine you cant flush it down their loo...!!

just looking for some general info. thanks.

I tend to clean tools thru the day rather than just at the end of the shift, you could buy stainless trowels etc...

I've got a hard bristled brush that I use to clean down my trowels and clean out my mixing buckets (I also wash them during the working day to stop adhesive setting on them), I WD40 my dry cutters about once a month and always run a clean bucket of water through the wet saw at the end of the day to clean the pipes and filter.

Bri do you always keep a bucket of soapy water sitting about to clean throughout the day? do you just find a drain outside to dispose of it?

I'm a clean freak so clean as I go.... I oil my dry cutters once a week (wd40 not too good for your rubi Bri) I just clean my towels with water and if they rust, it soon comes off the next time I use it.

I tend to have bucket of clean water handy but leave any residue to harden then use a builders bag to dispose of..

Not soapy water, just wash tools in the bucket that has my water in for mixing my adhesive. Always find a corner of the garden or some gravel to dispose of my dirty water, never put it in domestic drains or down the toilet, remember cement based adhesives and grouts will set under water and block the toilet/drain!

Didn't know that! I've been using it for years! Looks like I'll be getting a proper maintenance kit

same as Stewart for me, sometimes if my trowel gets forgotten at the end of the day (it does happen now and again) I'll get the angle grinder onto the next day. Same as Bri with regards to dirty water.

sediment from bottom of buckets into a thick waste bag and water dowen the main drain in the street

all tools cleaned down with water at lunch and end of shift,

im with bri keep tools cleans as i go hard brush clean sides of bucket before i do a new mix , im like trigger ive had same bucket 10 yrs now , just a new handle now and then

glad you mentioned this as I forgot to add it in my oroginal post.

whats the best way to clean these? slowly spin it in a bucket of water to get most off then hard brush it?

That's what I do. Straight out the mix & into a bucket of water. Quick spin then brush off the rest!

Does anyone here attempt to clean a trowel after using 2 Part? I just use a trowel ready for the bin. I feel it's not even worth while

I got the idea when I was doing a job on a farm, next to the wellie puller was a cobblers last with two brushes on it for cleaning wellies, I just adapted idea for cleaning my whisk.
