Correct procedure

Kitchen and bathroom fitter and although quite experienced at tiling I'm not upto the standards or knowledge of the full time people on here, so i would like to pick your brains
New bathroom fit and client as removed tiles
4 walls 2 are stud 2 are dabbed, most of the original adhesive is still on bare plasterboard
bath with shower going back
Is it good practise to cement board over top with flex adhesive and screw or remove all old plasterboard
and also would you do complete bathroom in cement board?
Hope you can advise

i would remove old pb options are replacing with plasterboard and tanking if in wet area ,replacing with a marmox type board which is totally waterproof when joints are taped and can withstand a heavier tile. to be honest if you explained the bathroom better a more suitable option will be recomended for your needs

Remove plasterboard...... what type of tile are you fitting?

Tiles will be 300 x 200 ceramic

Hi matt.. if the adhesive is dispersion type then sometimes a simple damp down with a wet sponge a couple times and it just scrapes off the walls.. but if stubborn and the walls are knacked then just replace the PB..

Be careful where the boards overlap with the ceiling, there will probably be scrim tape where wall and ceiling meet. Run a knife along it or you run the risk of pulling the skim off the ceiling when you remove the old boards, you don't want to add a ceiling re-skim to your to do list.
