was out for a beer last night with my uncle, he is a tiler who has done site work since the age of 15 (60 this year the old get). Anyway was picking his brains about a few things and getting some tips etc etc. He started a job last week with a big company in Manchester and are doing some apartment floors. Said he turned up and one of the lads said "not sure we have enough plasterboard" to which my uncle replied " thought we was doing floors?" "we are"
Rather than ply they are using plasterboard on the floors. Told me he had heard of a lad ages ago who sworn by using plasterboard rather than ply but had never seen anyone do it.
Really not something i would ever contemplate doing.
Anyone else actually heard or seen this done?

dont think its a wise thing to do and never seen this being done, doesnt sound very professional though.:whatchutalkingabout :whatchutalkingabout :whatchutalkingabout :whatchutalkingabout

never heard of such ****e in all my born days....what ever next...what did your uncle say mat... hope he put him straight...:furious3:

lets just say he has now parted company with that company Dave. Told me he had worked for them in the past and the previous time they would not use ply thicker than 4mm "because it is all cost effective".
It's bloody shocking.

Anyway not been on here much the last few weeks cause i have been having a few early nights cause i am knackered, now booked up until January the 25th 🙂

does sound strange, but as long as it dont get wet maybe it will remain stable ? Think thats daft..You can hang up to 32kg of wall tiles on cardboard... I think its called plasterboard.
Have laid ceramic tiles on lining paper.....It was in a showroom and we papered the existing marble floor to make it easy to lift the display at the next refubishment, and of course to protect the marble.
