creating a recess...

couldn't find any in depth posts about making a recess so found this vid on youtube. good vid but the chap must go through a drill bit with each wall he boards up liste to it grind away with each screw lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G84y-yOErzU

They are pretty simple to be fair. In a stud wall it's all about building up the cls and noggins to the distances you desire for the required size. If you want the niche to fit in the space where a full tile(s) fall then the cls needs building taking account of plasterboard, adhesive & tile. I always add 1-2mm more just in case and make it up in adhesive if needs be.

If in a wet zone I ALWAYS fully tank the niche. I always offer my clients the size of niche and if any shelving desired. Hillhead (Joe) has some nice photos of real stone niches with shelves
