ok chappies
done a estimate for 40 m2 of limestone in brickbond walls n floor but customer has only a cut off tile sample (hubby ordered from tinternet) actual tile size is to quote mrs customer is 10mm x457mmx152mm ,
now ive done some searching on net but cannot find this tile size anywhere (customers hubby works abroad n wont be back till oct) how the fec can i find out the weight of this tile so as i can work out sqr mt weight for walls.
the customer is no help what so ever n doesnt know where hubby got sample from.

also me crystal balls have stopped working so i cannot forsee into the future lol

has any one any ideas or suggestions

Take a chunky porcelain tile as sample,.....cut to the size 45 x 15...and weigh the fker....question answered...

Line the room out with backer boards /screwed and plugged then no probs......dave...

Doesnt make any difference the size of the tiles, a square metre of 6" tiles weighs the same as a square metre of 60 x 40 tiles, it is only the thickness of the tile that will make a difference. a metre square of area is a metre square of area. what weighs heavier a ton of steel or a ton feathers, same sinario
As DH says above, line with backer board, i think backer board takes up to 40 kg per square metre

Most backer boards will support 50kg of weight so is worth thinking about when installing heavy format tiles........dave...

see if you had job where tiles used were too heavy for rendered wall and you needed to plasterboard to get extra kg/m2. surely you wouldn't rip off all render and board to brick-would you just have to live with extra thickness of plasterboard ontop of render?

Not all rooms will accommodate the extra thickness.. this is just an option.........dave....
