CTD Restocking Charge

Hi Peeps
So I was in my local CTD the other day and the lads told me that they had to charge 20% restocking charge from May for returned goods. How common is this in your local suppliers. This seems a bit excessive to me.

Never returned anything to CTD in 40 years!
As the memo said there is a cost to restocking returns in labour and stock control. When you buy from them it will always be the same batch not like other tin pot suppliers .

I've taken SLC back when I've over estimated.......hate keeping it in the van, bags get split and it goes everywhere..

I hardly return stuff. Thinking more for the customer who might return packs of tiles and loose some cash. Slc is likely the gear I'd return to Andy. Never can get that right.

I don't understand why CTD have this policy when Grahams Plumbers merchant and Jewson (both part of the S-G group) don't have it. Poor I say, and enough for me to not use them any more. I told my local CTD this a few weeks ago and they agreed with me it was poor service

Having worked in retail I know what a PITA returns are. People forgot about all of the paperwork that goes with it.

Trying to avoid the all too often experience of customers who buy their tiles at Homebase(batch numbers)??

I think it's the added problems with mixed batches which has created the costs.
Look at Topps...they couldn't care less. They'll sell mixed batches happily.
